Christianity 101 Final Thoughts

It has taken me a decade to complete the writing of this Christianity 101 course. I thank God that I have been blessed to see it through to its completion. With that said, there is still much to share with you from the word of God.

Hebrews 6:1-3

Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God, 2 Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment. 3 And this will we do, if God permit.

With as much as I have within me I have been faithful to lay out the foundational principles and doctrine of Christ. Each study has been written with much prayer and research.

If you have gone through the entire course you will have no doubt noticed there were many false doctrines I have had to address. The sad truth is that the majority of the church do not know these foundational doctrines. Which is why false doctrine runs rampant.

Like building a house you MUST begin with the foundation. If you want to REPAIR a house you must ALSO begin with the foundation. At times you even have to knock down walls and bulldoze the entire place down if there is too much damage.

This can be hard for many people. So hard in fact that many can not even fathom the possibility of their beliefs being incorrect. I’ll be honest, I have the same problem. But with time and honesty we can all break those walls of false doctrine down and build on the foundation with solid truths.

Don’t Destroy The Seedling

In sharing these things I’ve had people tell me they were led to Jesus. I’ve also had people say I’ve been leading people astray. I’ve been called a man of God, and a devil. I think the truth may be somewhere in the middle.

I mention this because there is a great need in the church. No one comes to Jesus knowing it all. No one understands everything in the Bible the first time they read it. No tree bears fruit until its season.

So why do some curse the sapling for not being a great tree? Why cut down the plant when it just shoots up because it isn’t already fully mature? Why call Christians trying to grow in Christ devils because they haven’t come to the knowledge we think they should have?

Those that know the doctrines of Christ and believe themselves to be teachers should not attack their students. Question them, challenge them, educate them, but never set them aside as if they are the enemy!

Matthew 18:4-6

4 Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven. 5 And whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me. 6 But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

As a young Christian I shared something I felt was amazing in the scriptures with someone that I felt was strong in the Lord. I had hoped the response would be to rejoice with me. But instead I was told “What God are you serving?!” Because I was off in a small detail.

To be so young in the Lord and so freshly devoted to Him this stabbed me to my core. I couldn’t speak for an hour or so because of the pain it had caused. God had to comfort me and heal me in that hour.

I wasn’t angry. I was hurting because the relationship I was now in with Jesus was insulted, questioned, and degraded. Thankfully, as I was told by this person later, they felt God rebuke them the moment they said it.

God would not allow them to speak to me again until I was able to gather the strength to stand up again from this attack. They wanted to say they were sorry, but were restrained until I was given an answer from God to speak to them. I said “I may not be where you are, or know what you know, but you had no right to say that.”

Since then I’ve grown in the Lord. I myself have attacked the young ones. But thankfully God has allowed me to feel what they must feel. And God has let me know that I have no right to say such things.

And so I ask you, after you now know these foundational doctrines, be kind to one another. Don’t let your knowledge become your destruction. Or else the children you offend will be given the words from God to rebuke you with.

Going On Unto Perfection

Its one thing to know these things. Its quite another thing to put them into practice. We are expected not to have need to lay these foundational truths again. We are expected to move forward unto perfection.

We must grow in love. We must do what is right for the sake of it being right. We must call ourselves into check when we are out of line. We must know the spirit we operate in if it be of God or not. Let us go on from knowing these foundational doctrines to building solid walls of precious stones.

Let us build our house with the gold of love. Let us fasten the windows with sapphire stone made of patience. Let our roof be diamonds of humility.

Hebrews 7:11-12

11 If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? 12 For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Hebrews 8:10-11

10 For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: 11 And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

And this is how me go on unto perfection. It is not by knowing the law in our minds. It is not in knowing the scriptures so well you can quote chapter and verse. It is not in being a teacher or preacher.

Going on unto perfection is done by letting God apply His word to your heart. We are to daily be transformed into the image of Jesus. We are to let it sink into us to the point that we do what Jesus would do NOT just because its what He would want, but because it is now WHO WE ARE!

There are many more things I have to share with you. So I will continue to release new Bible studies on this site. But I want to thank you for taking the time to go along with me through this course. I hope it has blessed you, challenged you, and helped you to understand the things of God in a way you never had before.
