Finally, after we have now explored some of the basics of the Holy Ghost and the baptism of the Holy Ghost we come to the subject of the laying on of hands.
The laying on of hands, blessings, and curses are some of the most mysterious concepts found in the Bible. What is the purpose of the laying on of hands, how can someone give a blessing, and what power do curses really have? These are all very good questions, and rarely are they easily answered.
Many Christians do not have much of an understanding of the subject other than that the Bible says they should lay hands on some people, and not on others.
1 Timothy 5:22
22 Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither be partaker of other men’s sins: keep thyself pure.
But while it is good to know that the Bible says to do it we should also have a desire to understand why. Is there some kind of “special” power that comes in the laying on of hands? Is it just a symbolic way of giving public approval as new ministers are ordained?
